SPEAKER –  Peter Verbiscar-Brown, Executive Director of Global Partners for Development’s assistance projects in Uganda.
Global Partners for Development works in the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.  The key to the success of their projects is that they work directly with local organizations, school districts, cooperatives, and community governments.  All projects are generated by their African partners and community participation is a crucial requirement for funding by Global Partners.
Since 1989, Global Partners for Development has worked to achieve an end to hunger throughout the world, especially as it affects the survival and development of children.  Global Partners for Development was founded in 1978 as an organization called World Runners International, whose members used running to raise funds for ending hunger and poverty.  After working in direct partnership with East African communities in 1989, the name of the organization was changed to better represent the mission and vision.
Since its founding, Global Partners have been working in the East African countries of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, with projects that have included development of clean water sources, child speakernutrition, medical and health care, primary and vocational education, and women’s economic self-reliance.  Global Partners for Development’s purpose is to bring outside resources to communities that struggle with the innumerable problems associated with hunger and poverty, and to assist those communities in bringing about appropriate development, improved health, education, and economic self-reliance.  They also build partnerships, matching people and resources with community development projects for the purpose of advancing the health and well being of humanity.  As an international, non-profit, non-governmental organization, Global Partners raises funds to provide resources and skills for basic survival, promoting self-sufficiency and education in developing countries.

During the early years all revenue came from individual donors. They still retain this grassroots fundraising emphasis but now diversify by including foundation and corporate donations. Approximately 95% of cash income is derived from individuals and the companies where those individuals work.  The Four Star Charity Navigator rates the organization ‘4 stars’ (the highest rating) for the last four years.
Their Mission Statement is, “Ending Poverty Through thlogoe Power of Partnership” emphasizes the importance of working together, in partnership, to address the very real problems of injustice and violence that stand in the way of true peace and true progress. The organization, it’s donors and African partners are joined by a mutual respect and acknowledgement of shared humanity.

Jo Ann Pozzi's thought to share ~~ Reach For It – If you want something, Don’t your know you have to reach for it.  If you need something - Don’t your know you have to reach for it.  All your dreams are right within your reach for it, don’t you know that Love is yours and all you have to do is reach for it.  Don’t you know that wealth is your if you reach for it and don’t you know you’ll have good health if you reach for it.  Don’t just sit around and cry, Reach for it.  Don’t talk about committing suicide, come on reach for it.  You can have what your heart desires if you reach for it.  You can set the world on fire if you reach for, it reach hard, reach strong, reach far reach long.  Don’t sit, don’t quit, don’t give up, don’t give in, you can triumph, you can win, if you reach for it!    –Staaja
