May 22, PVR Golf Tournament

 Junior Achievement - We had meeting this past Monday at Miwok to get started on their programs - our club had a large turnout of volunteers. Pam took a moment to express her gratitude in having the opportunity to teach the program at Meadow School. She gave away a couple of E-Racers to today's President Diana and (Walt and Sue's) Raymond.

Petaluma Wetlands: Gerald Moore from Petaluma Wetlands Alliance (A committee of Madrone Audubon) gave us a brief overview of what the group does, educate the public about the ecology, wildlife, and values of the wetlands, as well as provide hands on help in keeping the wetlands environmentally sound. For more information how our Rotarians can help you can contact PVR member Dave Johnson.

 
Chili Cookoff - Cinnabar Theater will be once again hosting the Chili Cookoff in April - this year they are having a silent auction so if you have a donation or know of someone who would be able to donate please let Elly know. They are hoping to raise enough money to secure a $10,000 matching grant.

 

Interact Advisors: Sheila Bride, Libby FitzGerald, and Jim O'Grady - would one of you Rotarians like to join us - we could use another hand!

 

Golf Tournament: Plans for our annual fundraiser are underway - please think about how you might be able to contribute.

 RYLA: Interactors Amelia and Diana expressed their gratitude for attending RYLA last year and said how the experience helped them to grow both as persons and in their leadership skills.

 Need a Make-up?: Russ Freudenberg suggests visiting an Interact Club Meeting held on Tuesdays at 12:30 to 1:00 PM at Casa Grande High School. $5 donation requested.

 Diana's Fines and Happy Dollars:

  • Connie mentioned her Jim's birthday would have been this past week and celebrated with a donation. He would have enjoyed the day with our Interactors
  • Ron Johns threw in a few bucks in gratitude for the ideal skiing this past weekend.
  • Bruce, and avid March Madness fan, will be going south to watch Stanford; for this he gave us $.
  • Russ will be leaving on vacation soon and in thanks plucked down some cash.
  • Monica told us that her mortgage business is picking up and gave some happy cash.
  • Then Monica was called upon in celebration of her husband's birthday and their recent Anniversary - she gave another $20!
  • Forrest will be heading to Denver soon to celebrate with old friends from WWII.
  • Walt did not get off the hook for celebrating 24 years in our club.
  • Libby put in $5 in recognition to Elly for her fine play recently seen at Cinnabar (its sold out!)
  • Linda was grateful for the successful gala at her gallery this past weekend.
  • Sally gave (and Russell Rice helped) for the birth of Jackson - including $100 to her Paul Harris
  • Shadi, in today's celebration of NoRouz, first day of Spring and the New Year, gave to the pot.

Raffle: Sally lost her marbles...so Tabitha's ticket is chosen but will select marble next week.

 Speaker: The Rent-Er-Act: an Interactor Auction

projectsThis in-club fundraiser benefits the Interact projects including Fundraiser for POULTRY & PIGGERY project in Osukuru, our village in Uganda.

Here are the participants:

1. Lilia & Kiara Covarrubias (Dynamo Sisters) 5 or more hours of work
2. Laura Flores, 3 hours of work including tutoring, car washing or babysitting
3. Mario Mejia - Computer Wiz
4. Greg Briggs offering any amount of hours of hard labor
5. Derek Linsey, a mellow, good worker, any amount of hours
6. Jose Chavez and Diana Gutierrez - giving 3 hours each

7. Shelby Giusto -  Organizing, tutoring, anything you want!
8. Amelie Sherry - Cleaning, tutoring, anything!
9. Jimmy O'Grady - I can and will do anything!

 The bidding was fierce (and confused, but fun) and in the end these great kids earned beaucoup bucks for their projects thanks to you all! Now...work those Interacters! They promised to do a great job of whatever you hired them to do! But...don't forget the snacks!adjourned
