Opening Bell: Rustler Rice
Flag Salute: Forrest Frey

Visitors and Guests:
David Mark Raymond (Sebastopol Sunrise), Dale Knight (Rohnert Park/Cotati), Star, Sierra (13), Emerald (10) and Daniel (6) Downey, Carol York, and Brianna Faith Roark, who thought she was 3, but is actually a precocious 2 years old.
and,,,by the way...this reporter had to pay for forgetting to give the titles of:

 "PastpresidentAssistantDistrictGovernorDistrictGrantschairforFestivalofBrotherhoodMemberofRotaplatcommittee"

that Pamela was going to use when she introduced Dale Knight....So...beware the Rustler when you introduce a guest!!!!!

Debra Matteri brought the Thought:
Four Wishes (author unknown), “May your mind be filled with wisdom. May your heart be filled with love. May your lips be filled with sweetness. And, may your life be filled with stars.”

The Rustler passed the hat, OK, the Bucket) for donations toward the annual Rose Parade Rotary Float. At this point he lost control of the crowd..they had other things to discuss…like the weather…wet and cold…

Order restored…the announcements went like this:

--Next Weds. the 20th will be “Family Day” with special guest speaker James K. who is famous among the younger set (the way younger set) as a singer/storyteller.
--Austin waxed lawyerly and asked that we return Albertson’s kindness and generosity by patronizing the store and bidding on their Silent Auction which benefits Hospice. The Lakeville store is the branch in question. Win-win stuff, folks!
--Adopt a Village certificates are available if you would like to give a donation to our International Project in the name of a loved one, a business acquaintance, friend or anyone who has too much stuff and would appreciate the idea of helping those who don’t.
--We will be DARK on Dec. 27th

Penultimate Final Fines of 2006
A bunch of December 9th B-Days!
*Fernando Cabrillo…said “Good By 20’s, hello minivan!”
*Bob Hill…had a conference in LA.. so he took the extended family and had a b-day       dinner at Goofy’s in Disneyland!
*Jo Thornton….spent her B-Day gift shopping…that’s just like her! She donated to her Paul Harris
Then the Birthdays shifted to Dec. 10th
*Kevin Downey…partied at the Lodge in Yosemite! Snow and everything!
*Debra Matteri..prepaid her fine, and kept her celebration a secret!
*Mike Rabette…no B-Day, just his 5 year Club Anniversary..he rang da’ Bell!

Happy $$$$
--Austin’s son Grayson is a photo pin up again..this time in a magazine. He is saving to put his Dad through retirement!
--Derek Stefan is happy to be with a new firm…and was Outted by the Rustler for having his photo in the Argus. He rang the bell, as well.
--Jennifer Carter is happy to be able to use the Lobby in their newly renovated office.
--Todd Cary donated to thank the Argus for it’s (their?) support of PEF, Rotary and other community organizations who give to Petaluma.
--Linda Postenrieder did the 4-Way Test thing and paid up for Donna’s  B-Day which got missed by the Rustler. She gave to her Harold Alexander. Yea!
--John Strong tried to rat on Ron Flagg for a new car…but really meant to thank him for chauffeuring John around a lot. Friends for 35 years will do that.

Raffle Baffle….John S. pulled a marble…just not a blue one. Rickie Roark got the $10!

Oh…did I forget to mention that we voted in the slate of nominees for 2006-2007? Well…we did. President to be after Sally…Jim O’Grady!  Other officers are the usual suspects…Secretary Walt Hussey, Treasurer Liz Marquardt, Past President so we can’t pick on him, Esteamed Rice!
Elected Board members are: Jennifer Carter, Dawn Davis, Kevin Downey,
Fernando Cabrillo. Appointed members Sheila Bride, Pamela Tuft, Jo Thornton.

Our speakers this week were Dale Knight and David Mark Raymond who reported on the District 5130 Rotaplast project in Guatamala. They brought a very well made slide show produced by the Photo Journalist who accompanied the group. David gave a copy to PVR that we might view it and use it to let other groups know about the life changing project.

This year the volunteer Doctors, Nurses and staff interviewed over 200 and performed 114 operations in Guatemala. The Rotary Club in that District raised as much and more in funding as was raised here for the purpose. They fed and housed the team and coordinated the translation and other needs. It is an amazing effort on the part of all Rotarians and others involved. Once you see the before and after photos, though, you understand why they all commit to so much work.

Rotary Can Work Miracles, and make Peace happen…one person at a time.
