Jerrie P. reported on the Fiesta of the Brotherhood – we received a copy of the final report listing equipment purchased for the school for the blind and deaf. The Club thanked Shadi for of her donation which made the grant possible. Carol York gave her craft talk. Born on Christmas Day (in good company), large family (1 of 5), lived in relatively small house in San Diego; San Diego State University (degree in chemistry); left field when moved to Northern
California; got a job in Palo Alto, lived in
Cotati with no car thus a career change to banking (easier than making
macramé necklaces from sea shells); moved into management
(29
years so far in all aspects of banking); now bank manager with Bank of
Marin. Husband Tony, works in Napa at a wine distribution
center;
daughter Valerie Rose (25 years old attending Sacramento State
University), very musically talented but majoring in
accounting.
Pets? (cats). Board member of PPSC, chaired the silent
auction at
PEP Housing for the last couple of years, looking for other things to
do. She thinks Petaluma is a great community, with great character and
wonderful
people (Didn’t we all know that?) Carol is a great addition
to the
community and our Rotary Club).
Jim O’Grady reported on the Presidential Dinner; attended
with
John Strong. Two themes: Examples of how we as
Rotarians
don’t always know what people need in their community
– how
important it is to find out what they need, before we go and give
things. Terrorism, touched upon it in a non-political way;
one
way to address is through humanitarian service (roof over heads, clean
water, protect and feed children). Jim is looking forward to
attending next year. Russell reported on the creation of a Harold Alexander Platinum level of $1,000. Great opportunity for members to augment the wonderful work the Trust Fund does for local college scholarships. Adopt a Village committee meeting will immediately follow today’s meeting. Next week, after the Club meeting, Dash for Cash committee will hold meeting, all are welcome. Rickie reported on the First Friday, to be at this Friday at Pazzo’s (old Tuttles) at 6 PM. Crab Feed February 9th, Rotary Club of Petaluma. Pamela passed around a sign-up sheet, please con sider

always had a great showing at this fun event, we reserved a table so we
need to have at least 24 to fill a large table, or better yet, 32 and
fill up two of the smaller tables. Come one, come all, all
you
can eat crab. Dress is very casual as the food gets a little
messy.Crab Feed – Boys and Girls – February 3rd. Call the Club is you’re interested in attending. February 22nd SCA RC
– Crab Feed in Cloverdale (look for future sign-up).HAPPY DOLLARS, FINES, ETC.: Year of the Scandal: Presidential Russell accused ‘Tigger” of pushing a young man who was tugging on his clothes. Tigger paid $5 to her Harold Alexander. (Ok..so that happened at Disneyland with a Tigger Clone...not ours!!) Everyone acknowledged Forrest’s 86th birthday with $1 tossed into the bucket. We are SOOOOO lucky to have Forrest in our Club, what a historian. Forrest (Friggy) Frey Connie recognized her son, John’s, birthday by completing his Paul Harris. Connie and John ![]() And, isn't Connie looking great!
Jerrie put in $2 for the almost fire at Sheila’s company (the
lack of details almost sounded like a conspiracy). It appears
that the 500 degree roaster includes a chaf bin (which is lighter than
sawdust). It torched, Fire Department responded
(Yea!). The
really, really dark roast beans are available (inquire to Sheila).Pamela recognized her 17th?, no, her 18th Club Anniversary (fine schedule all paid, so this was a freebie, whoopee!). #9647 was the winning ticket, which JoAnn finally found on Liz’s back desk. Please remember Liz is home convalescing, so send cards. RAFFLE: 50/50 raffle the wrong color marble was selected by JoAnn. Mary C. won the $10. PROGRAM: Libby introduced the speaker, Ben Stone ![]() Ben Stone, the rock star of the Sonoma County Economic Role, for the past twenty years. Received the Spirit of Sonoma County Award. Hobbies: jazz, hiking, travel and wine. Opportunities to Grow Your Business: What’s Ahead in 2007. Ben outlined the opportunities in Sonoma County with incredible statistic information on the demographics, economics, and facts about our County. Lots of fun information on the Film Program that thrives in the County. Natural Resource challenges for the future: energy costs, water and landfill limitations. What an incredible source of information and assistance for businesses; follow up the Ben’s office if you are interested in getting info and/or help. More
