Thought for the Day:
Pamela quotes Past President Ralph Williams-

“It’s a new day with a world ahead,
Yesterdays gone and the past is dead.
Grab on, grab on with all your might,
Hold on to the future ever so tight.
Be happy.

Caress it and mold it as it slowly unfolds.
Shape it and touch it, be steady and bold,
For you must make it the way it must be,
No one else can see it as you must see,
           Be Happy,

And as you reach out day by day,
It will all come together in every way,
The good things will happen for deep inside,
You have the strength and enormous pride,
                       To be happy.

So look ahead, don’t look back,
The future is bright, not cold and black,
The sun will shine for you each day.guests
To light your future along the way.
                                  And you will be happy.”

John Strong
A History of Past Club International Projectsjohn

John Strong presented a great slide show on past Rotary International projects Petaluma Valley Rotary has been involved in.

The first club project was in Haiti where Rotarians provided water storage tank in a 6000 square foot holding tank building.  One of them accidentally cut off tip of thumb working on it!

Next, John showed PVR trip to India working with a mobile health clinic serving villages in rural areas.   The people really needed the help and looked grateful for whatever could be done- examples, smiling man without hands or feet; a little girl with an eye tumor from which she latter died.

Later, John and PVR were in Mexico, helping a school for handicap kids with gifts of clothes and supplies as well as helping the local community by furnishing fire equipment including ambulance with lift and the jaws of life equipment.

Further along was a trip to the Dominican Republic building local houses with the help of twelve Interactors, Jerrie P. and Garrett Hill of the Sunrise club- he fondly remembers the team using a waterfall shower to clean up and the kindness of the locals.

Next, it was trips to South East Asia, first the Phillipines building bamboo boats and then to Vietnam installing nine water wells and large holding tanks in rural areas and to build low cost modern housing.   He showed us pictures of scooter transport, the Perfume River, snakes, and the difference of the new housing vs old housing.

Lastly, there was a trip to Russia to provide an orphange with clothing and material support.  Great pics from an inspiring Rotary humanitarian- thanks Johnny!

Adieu!
